An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More)

Hit of the Show, the 1928 Ralph Ince theater stage vaudeville tragic romantic love triangle Apache dancer melodrama ("Sensational epic of life backstage"; presented by Joseph P. Kennedy; an unusual story of a vaudeville performer who falls for a woman who is the partner of an Apache dancer, which was a French dance where the man manhandled the woman, imitating a French gangster, and the performer sees the male dancer hurt the female dancer, and he manages to take his place in the act, and he does a wonderful job, but at the end of his performance, he collapses and dies!) starring Gertrude Olmstead, Joe E. Brown, Gertrude Astor, Daphne Pollard, William Bailey, Cosmo Kyrle Bellew, and Lee Shumway. Note that to this point, Joe E. Brown had been a light comedy actor, and in this movie, he took a straight dramatic role, but the movie was not very successful, so he returned to his comedy roots and became a giant star (but one great aspect of this movie is that he showed that he was a wonderful dancer during the Apache dancing scene!). Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this window card! Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded.

Condition: very good.
