Hart silent Northern lumberjack logging camp crime melodrama (from the story by J.G. Hawks) starring William S. Hart (in the title role as Blue Blazes Rawdwn), Maude George, Robert McKim, Gertrude Claire, and Robert Gordon NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that there are three white areas in three of the borders that look like they COULD be a defect of some sort, but they are NOT. They exist on stills from silent films that have this sort of black border around the edges. It appears that stills of this sort were made by actually blowing up a frame of film, and perhaps those white areas are some sort of sprocket holes. In any event, they are contained within the printing and are not any sort of defect! Note that this still was consigned to us by legendary collector/dealer Marty Davis! Marty was hired in 1972 to evaluate the entire collection of W. Ward Marsh (1893-1971), who was the film critic for the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper from 1919, until his retirement in 1970. In 1919 Marsh wrote his first of 23,000 movie reviews for the Plain Dealer. Marsh died less than a year after his retirement in 1970. His library, and photographic and memorabilia archives were given to the proprietor of Cleveland's finest bookstore. Marty Davis was the first person with a background in film history and collectibles to examine the archives. He worked for three to four hours a day, for six months, and his compensation was his pick of the archives. This still (and the other stills that carry this paragraph) are from the W. Ward Marsh archives, and all were stamped on the back by Marty Davis to indicate that they came from this legendary collection. Condition: good. There is brown paper tape on the back of part of the borders and some were folded over to the front. Learn More about condition grades
