Stahl seduction-and-desertion melodrama ("A new star is born"; "Greater than 'Backstreet'!"; "93 feature players!"; "Suggested by the book 'Only Yesterday' by Frederick L. Allen"; based on the novel 'Letter from an Unknown Woman' by Stefan Zweig; about a young woman who is seduced by a flyer during World War I, and she becomes pregnant, and years later, she meets him again, and not only does he not remember her, but he once again tries to seduce her!) starring Margaret Sullavan (in her very first movie, and yet she is top billed!), John Boles, Jane Darwell, Billie Burke, Reginald Denny, Edna May Oliver, and "93 Feature Players in the cast!" (all of whom were uncredited!). Note that Margaret Sullavan had made her Broadway debut when she was just 17, and she had been in Broadway plays for seven years when she made this, her first movie, and it is very rare that an actor or actress is top billed in their very first movie! Also note that this movie was later remade in 1948 under the title "Letter from an Unknown Woman" with Joan Fontaine and Louis Jourdan. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
