An Original Vintage Theatrical Uruguayan Movie Herald (measures 4 1/4" x 5 3/4" [11 x 15 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) The Masked Bride, the 1925 Christy Cabanne & Josef von Sternberg silent romantic love triangle jewel thief crime melodrama (about a rich American millionaire doing research for a book on French crime, and he meets a beautiful dancer who is also a thief, and he interviews her and falls in love with her, but her ex-boyfriend threatens to kill the American if she doesn't steal a valuable necklace from him, but everything works out in the end!) starring Mae Murray, Francis X. Bushman, Roy D'Arcy, Basil Rathbone (in one of his earliest roles!), Pauline Neff, and Chester Conklin. Note that Josef von Sternberg had directed his first movie just prior to this, and he helped direct this movie, but he was uncredited on the final print! Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Please note that Uruguayan heralds, like Spanish heralds, were printed in large quantities, and then sent to individual theaters in Uruguay, and they would have the backs of them overprinted or stamped with their theater name and specific play dates. But because a movie might play in Uruguay for a period of a year or two (traveling from theater to theater), there is no guarantee that the date overprinted on the back of the herald is the same as the date that the herald was first printed (and the date that the movie first played in Uruguay). We strongly suspect that most movies did not reach Uruguay until a year or two after their first release in other countries, but we can't say for certain. Therefore, we don't list the date overprinted on the back of a herald as the date of the herald (or the date of the movie's first release in Uruguay) unless we know from some other source that the later year was when the movie first played in Uruguay. If it is important to you that the date on the herald is the same date as when the movie first played in its country of origin, then please look at our image of the back of this herald to see if there is a different date printed on it.
