eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 1t627 LAUGHTER IN PARADISE/COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO 2-sided Yugoslavian 20x28 '50s 1 side hand painted Date Sold 10/6/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Two-Sided Yugoslavian Movie Poster (measures 19 3/4" x 27 1/2" [50 x 70 cm]) (Learn More) the 1950s Yugoslavian double-bill release of Laughter in Paradise, the 1951 Mario Zampi English family inheritance comedy (about a dying rich old man who leaves his four children a large sum of money each, but only if each completes a specific task assigned to them, and of course, that task helps change their life more than the money does!) starring Alastair Sim, Fay Compton, Beatrice Campbell, Guy Middleton, A.E. Matthews, Joyce Grenfell, John Laurie, and Veronica Hurst. Note that 14 people are billed in the advertising for this movie, but they left out young Audrey Hepburn, who had had tiny roles in two previous movies, but in this movie, she played "Frieda" the cigarette girl! AND Le Comte de Monte-Cristo (Episode II; released in the U.S. in 1955 as "The Count of Monte Cristo"), the 1954 Robert Vernay French/Italian romantic adventure melodrama starring Jean Marais (in the title role as Edmond Dantes, The Count of Monte Cristo), Lia Amanda (as Mercedes), Daniel Ivernel, Folco Lulli, Louis Seigner, Gualtiero Tumiati (as the Abbe Faria), Noel Roquevert (as Villefort), and Julien Bertheau (as Napoleon). Note that this movie was intended to be such a definitive rendering of the novel that it was over 3 hours long, which required that it be released in France in two parts! This is Part II of the movie (apparently, only Part II was released in the U.S., which seems like it would have been quite confusing for U.S. viewers!). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: D. Ivanisevic Important Added Info: Note that this poster is double-sided, but not at all in the usual way! A theater owner needed a poster to advertise a showing of Laughter in Paradise but they did not have one, so they took a regular Yugoslavian poster for The Count of Monte Cristo, and they had someone paint an entire poster for Laughter in Paradise on the back side, in the Hungarian language. So the person who purchases this poster will receive an actual hand-painted original poster, that is on the back of another poster! We have provided an image of each side, but please realize that the winner of this auction will receive ONE poster! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.
UPDATED 09/30/2015: Note that we have updated the Important Added Info section. Condition: good to very good. The poster has various edge defects and the hand painted side of the poster shows signs of wear from being folded for some time and there are some areas of rubbing and smudges scattered throughout but otherwise it is in generally nice condition. The regular side has some pencil writing at lower right but is otherwise in generally nice condition as well. Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item prior to placing a bid. Learn More about condition grades
