An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie 8" x 10 1/4" [20 x 26 cm] Key Book Still (Learn More) Racing Luck, the 1935 Sam Newfield horse racing sports thriller starring William Boyd (billed as "Bill Boyd"), Barbara Worth, Ernest Hilliard, Esther Muir, George Ernest, and Onest Conley (a black African American actor who only appeared in a limited number of movies). Note that this is a VERY mysterious movie, because of how little we could find about its first release. The IMDb says it is a Republic movie, but the only lobby card we have ever had is from Winchester Pictures, and the only poster we have ever had (the three-sheet) does not have any distributor on it at all! We strongly suspect that the IMDb is wrong and that this movie is from Winchester Pictures, and we can't explain the extreme rarity of its posters. It seems definitely possible that the company Winchester Pictures might have gone out of business, and maybe the movie was sold to Republic Pictures at a later time. The biggest mystery is that Bill Boyd made this movie at the same time as his first Hopalong Cassidy movies, and was apparently released right after the first two Hopalong Cassidy movies. Perhaps Paramount Pictures didn't want this movie released at that same time. All this is guesswork, but it is certainly true that all movie paper from this early William Boyd movie is extremely rare! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still has an image of artwork created specifically for this movie! Such stills are far more rare than stills which show scenes from the movie! Also note that this still is a key book still, mounted to a linen backing. Many studios spent extra money to have their most special photos, the key book stills, either backed with linen or printed on a heavy paper, both of which enhanced their durability. They had an extra 1" at the left or top, with punch holes, because of how they were stored. Key book stills are far more rare than regular stills, which has increased their popularity among collectors, since only a few keybooks were manufactured per film, and a key book still is guaranteed to be authentic. Someone trimmed away the extra 1" from the top of the still. Condition: very good. The top 1" was neatly trimmed off (see above). Otherwise, the still is in pretty nice condition!
