An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More)

A Modern Hero, the 1934 G.W. Pabst (Georg Wilhelm Pabst) family relationship romantic melodrama (about a young man who is a circus rider and he has many romances, but when he falls in love, his mother reveals he is the son of a rich man that she couldn't marry, and that knowledge leads him to great financial success, but at great personal cost) starring Richard Barthelmess, Jean Muir, Marjorie Rambeau, Verree Teasdale, Florence Eldridge, Dorothy Burgess, Hobart Cavanaugh, and William Janney. Note that legendary director G.W. Pabst (who had directed Pandora's Box in Germany, and many other highly regarded movies), was talked into coming to Hollywood at this time to make his first U.S. movie. But the experience was not a happy one, and Pabst went to Europe and then returned to Germany at the onset of World War II, and he continued making movies in Germany, including a few during World War II, and around a dozen in the 1950s. This was his only U.S. movie!

Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this window card! Not only that, but the ONLY movie paper items we have ever auctioned from this movie were a single one-sheet that was in terrible condition and a single still, and no other movie paper of any kind! Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded.

Condition: good. The card has some nail holes and stains scattered around the edges and some within the image, but fortunately none in the faces of the stars. It is certainly an excellent candidate for restoration.
