An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 13 1/2" x 18 1/4" [34 x 46 cm]) (Learn More) Rex Ingram's Garden of Allah, the 1927 Rex Ingram silent Algeria religious romantic melodrama (a wild story about an Arabian monk who is accused by a young girl of hugging her, and he quits the monastery and becomes a playboy, but he runs into a beautiful young religious girl, and they fall in love, and he is reluctant to tell her about his past) starring Alice Terry, Ivan Petrovich, Marcel Vibert, H.H. Wright, Paquerette, and Gerald Fielding. Note that this movie was a remake of a 1916 movie of the same name, and that it was itself remade in 1936 with Marlene Dietrich and Charles Boyer in the lead roles. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned an insert, a still, and a German program (and NO other movie paper) from this movie until we received this window card! Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 13 1/2" x 18 1/4" [34 x 46 cm]. Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: fair to good. A little under 4" of the blank top of the card was trimmed off (it was likely not trimmed on the other three sides; see above). It had many smudges and stains scattered down the left 1", with a lesser amount scattered throughout the card. It had a diagonal crease at lower right, with a 2" tear and a 3" tear below the left of the crease. There were some tack holes around the edges and one in the center of the card. Someone performed some restoration to the above defects with tape on the back of the tears and the crease, and some paint restoration on the front, which has aged differently than the rest of the card. Otherwise, they left the card alone. In spite of these many defects, this ultra rare card can be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or certainly, additional restoration can be performed. Please bear all of the above in mind before placing a bid on this card! Learn More about condition grades
