An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More)

City for Conquest, the classic 1940 Anatole Litvak New York City boxing sports family relationship brothers gambling romantic melodrama ("A story with all the fire and fury of its two great stars!": "From the novel by Aben Kandel"; "New York's a pushover for a guy like me! I get what I want with my fists!"; "I'll lick this town too! But I'll get to the top... a different way!"; in a twist on the usual plot of a musician-turned-boxer to raise money, in this movie, Cagney is boxing to help his musician brother, with tragic results; one of Cagney's best roles ever; look for director Elia Kazan and a very young Anthony Quinn in very strong supporting performances!) starring James Cagney, Ann Sheridan, Frank Craven, Donald Crisp, Frank McHugh, Arthur Kennedy, George Tobias, Jerome Cowan, Elia Kazan (the famous director in an early acting role!), Anthony Quinn, Blanche Yurka, Joyce Compton, Lee Patrick, and Bob Steele

Important Added Info: Note that we have only once before auctioned the style A half-sheet for this classic James Cagney boxing movie, and we have NEVER before auctioned this style B! Also note that this poster is not marked, but since we know that there IS a style A poster on this title, and this poster has a different image, we assume that this poster is the style B, so we are referring to it in that fashion. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good. The poster was roughly folded once in each direction, and there are many creases down the middle and across the middle. There are also many creases scattered throughout the poster. There are brown dot stains in the top left corner, mostly in the blank border, but slightly touching the image. There are a few of the same brown stains in the top right corner and in parts of the rest of the borders. There is a piece of paper tape on the back of the bottom left corner, where there was a small tear, but otherwise, there has been no restoration. The poster is on the "linen" paper that Warner Bros. used at this time, but unlike many of these linen paper posters, it is not at all fragile. It certainly is an excellent candidate for expert restoration.
