An Unfolded Danish Advertising Poster (measures 20 1/2" x 26 1/2" [52 x 67 cm]) (Learn More) Franklin D. Roosevelt (also known as FDR) was a American politician from the 1910s to 1945. A Democrat, he won a record four presidential elections and emerged as a central figure in world events during the mid-20th century. He is known for directing the United States government during most of the Great Depression and World War II, and as a dominant leader of his party, he built the New Deal Coalition, realigning American politics into the Fifth Party System and defining American liberalism throughout the middle third of the 20th century. He is often rated by scholars as one of the three greatest U.S. Presidents, along with George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. He passed away in 1945 at the age of 63. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that FDR was apparently a fan of crime/mystery novels. After he became President, he discussed a book concept with his friend, magazine editor Fulton Oursler. The concept was "How can a man disappear with five million dollars in any negotiable form and not be traced?" Oursler suggested they ask the leading writers in the U.S. to collaborate on such a story, to which FDR replied, "Go ahead. See what you can all do with it." The work of the first authors (who each created a chapter) was serialized in Oursler's Liberty Magazine in 1935, the book was published in 1936, and a film based the story and titled "The President's Mystery" was also released in 1936. However, it wasn't until 30 years later that Erle Stanley Gardner (creator of Perry Mason) came along and tied everything up in a final chapter when the book was reprinted in 1967, and re-titled The President's Mystery Plot. Condition: good to very good. The poster has a few pieces of tape on some edges (not put there for any restoration purpose). Learn More about condition grades
