An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Lilies of the Field, the 1924 John Francis Dillon silent New York City infidelity romantic love triangle melodrama ("A searching portrayal of an ultra fashionable New York society set, lilies who toil not, who spin not, yet are arrayed in the costliest of silks and the rarest of gems, whose only ambition is to drain life of the last drop of pleasure. Adapted from the stage success of William Hurlburt. Directed by John Francis Dillion."; "From the play by William Hurlburt"; about a husband who catches his wife cheating on him, and he gets a divorce and gets custody of their baby, and then she becomes a model and has an affair, but eventually, she gets her baby back and a new husband) starring Corinne Griffith, Conway Tearle, Alma Bennett, Sylvia Breamer, Anna May Wong (in one of her early uncredited roles as a serving girl), and Mammy Peters. Note that "Mammy" Peters was a black African-American woman who played a maid in this movie, and apparently was never in another movie. We could find no further information about her. If anyone knows more about her, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that this movie was re-made as a sound picture in 1930, but it bears no relationship to the famous 1963 Sidney Poitier movie of the same name! Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist (though a trailer does survive). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that in the back of this fancy dinner party scene ("the feast of the lilies") are an Asian couple, a man and a young girl. That young girl is Anna May Wong, in one of her early uncredited roles, playing stereotyped parts like this one! Condition: good to very good. There is uneven darkening in the bottom border, or it may be a printing defect. There are smudges and tiny stains around the edges, with pinholes in the corners and tiny paper loss in the bottom left blank corner. Someone put tape on the back of two tears and put slight paint restoration in the left of the top blank border. Learn More about condition grades
