An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 13 1/2" x 21 3/4" [34 x 55 cm]) (Learn More) Only Yesterday, the 1933 John M. Stahl seduction-and-desertion melodrama ("A new star is born"; "Greater than 'Backstreet'!"; "93 feature players!"; "Suggested by the book 'Only Yesterday' by Frederick L. Allen"; based on the novel 'Letter from an Unknown Woman' by Stefan Zweig; about a young woman who is seduced by a flyer during World War I, and she becomes pregnant, and years later, she meets him again, and not only does he not remember her, but he once again tries to seduce her!) starring Margaret Sullavan (in her very first movie, and yet she is top billed!), John Boles, Jane Darwell, Billie Burke, Reginald Denny, Edna May Oliver, and "93 Feature Players in the cast!" (all of whom were uncredited!). Note that Margaret Sullavan had made her Broadway debut when she was just 17, and she had been in Broadway plays for seven years when she made this, her first movie, and it is very rare that an actor or actress is top billed in their very first movie! Also note that this movie was later remade in 1948 under the title "Letter from an Unknown Woman" with Joan Fontaine and Louis Jourdan. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we only previously auctioned one example of this window card! It appears that it was created die-cut, with the card trimmed to around Billie Burke's figure at upper left (we say "appears that" because it seems to surely have been created that way, and the only other example of this card we have seen was like this as well). Condition: poor to fair. The card has paper loss in the bottom right affecting the credits. Fortunately, the one example of the card that we sold before was also in much lesser condition, but the credits were complete on that one, so we could provide a quality scan of that area to the buyer of this card, and that would greatly aid in restoration. However, look at the card's defects (which extend beyond the paper loss) by looking at our super-sized image before bidding on this very rare card. Learn More about condition grades
