It was sort of a combination of those two magazines, with both illustrated stories about the news of the day, plus literary works (they at one time published the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs and other well known pulp magazine authors). At its peak, it was considered the second most successful magazine of its type next to the Saturday Evening Post.
