Ravished Armenia (also released as "Auction of Souls") the 1919 Oscar Apfel silent World War I (WWI) Armenian Genocide melodrama ("That all America may see and know and understand"; "The frank story of Aurora Mardiganian who survived while four millions perished in Ravished Armenia"; "National Motion Picture Committee of the American Committee for Armenian and Syrian Relief") starring Aurora Mardiganian, Irving Cummings, Anna Q. Nilsson, Henry Morgenthau, and Lillian West. Note that this film is based on the autobiographical book by Aurora Mardiganian, who also played the lead role in the film.

Artist: Guenther after Dan Smith
Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a single 8x10 still from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this one-sheet, which many collectors feel is in a tiny handful of the finest images of any war movie poster ever created! The art on the poster is by "Guenther", who was emulating famed illustrator Dan Smith with his wonderful art, and he signed it "Guenther after Dan Smith" to indicate that.

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It has some small tears and tiny paper loss in the top blank border and a lesser amount in the rest of the borders. It has a faint stamp in the top left corner from the International Alliance of Bill Posters and Billers of America! Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, and the restorer left alone the stamp in the top left corner, which we think is surely the right thing to do, both because it is really cool and because it barely touches the edge of the background (see our image).
