An Undated (probably 1966) Re-Release (re-titled "The Loves of Freaks" for this re-release) Vintage Theatrical Folded Canadian One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 28" x 42" [71 x 107 cm]) (Learn More)

Freaks, the classic 1932 Tod Browning circus romantic love triangle horror fantasy thriller ("Do Siamese Twins make love? What sex is the half-man, half-woman? Can the Pinheads think? Can a full-grown woman truly love a midget?"; "Freaks makes these strange creatures as human as you!"; "An unusual love drama"; with actual circus sideshow human oddities!) starring Wallace Ford, Leila Hyams, Olga Baclanova (as Cleopatra, who turns into the Chicken Woman at the end of the movie!), Roscoe Ates, Henry Victor (as Hercules), Harry Earles (as Hans), Daisy Earles (as Frieda), Rose Dione, Daisy Hilton & Violet Hilton (the Siamese Twins), Schlitze (as himself), Josephine Joseph (as the Half Woman/Half Man), Johnny Eck (as the Half Boy), Frances O'Connor (as an Armless Girl), Peter Robinson (as the Human Skeleton), Olga Roderick (as the Bearded Lady), Koo Koo (the "Bird Girl", as herself), Prince Randian (billed as "Rardion"; as The Living Torso), Martha Morris (as an Armless Girl), Elvira Snow (as a Pinhead), Jenny Lee Snow (as a Pinhead), Elizabeth Green (as a Bird Girl), Angelo Rossitto (one of the most successful "little people" actors from the 1920s on), Edward Brophy, Matt McHugh, and John Aasen (as the Giant). Note that in an extremely odd movie, it was even odder that brother and sister Harry and Daisy Earles played boyfriend and girlfriend!

Important Added Info: We have never seen or heard of this cool one-sheet (which measures 28" x 42" [71 x 107 cm]) before! It has taglines from the original 1932 MGM release of the movie, but it is re-titled "The Loves of Freaks", and it is similar in size and printing to Canadian one-sheets we have seen from the 1960s. But we searched the Internet, and found good reason to think it might be from 1966, and that it may well be Canadian. That website says "Cinepix, a fledging movie distributer in Montreal, Quebec, obtained the rights to the MGM Tod Browning 1932 film FREAKS, re-titled THE LOVES OF FREAKS (French title: L'Amour Chez Les Monstres). Dick Best, a sideshow operator who toured annually with Royal American Shows supplied the freaks for the live performance presented along with the movie. Count Nicholas, the famous Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus ringmaster managed Bob Melvin (THE TWO-FACED MAN), Stanislas Barent, Sealo-THE PENQUIN BOY, Jimmy Wilson (THE MIDGET), Easter Blackman,THE ALLIGATOR WOMAN and Mary King (THE FAT WOMAN). The Montreal 1966 engagement lasted 5 1/2 weeks and attracted over 120,000 people." So it seems really likely that this poster is from that 1966 Canadian showing of the movie, and apparently there was the above great live performances (at least in the Montreal showings!). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: very good to fine. The poster has creases scattered on parts of the foldlines and tiny staple holes in the corners. The bottom 1" was folded back at one time. There is a corrective snipe glued with the word "BELIEVE" at middle left (they actually printed the poster with it saying "BELIVE"!).
