An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Campaign Book (measures 11 1/2" x 15 1/4" [29 x 39 cm]; 89 pages) (Learn More)

Pathe 1930-31, the 1930 Pathe campaign book, featuring upcoming Pathe movies and stars from movies that were planned for production by Pathe in the coming year. The campaign book includes lots of full-color images of ads (both one-page and two-page spreads) for the major upcoming Pathe films including I Take This Woman, The Last Frontier, Adam & Eve, Rawhide, and many more. There are two versions of this book. One is softcover with 89 pages, and the other is semi-hardcover with 61 pages. The below is a description of the 89-page book.

Note that many of the pages have signed artwork, by many different (quite talented) artists, and that some of the pages have wonderful signed art (some of the signatures include "Forrester", "Tidden", "Barney Tobey", "Leonard", "Lewis Daniel", and others). Note that, because Pathe was wanting to be one of the foremost studios, they prepared a campaign book filled with beautiful full-color artwork! We have included images of the cover of the book and eleven of the interior two-page spreads; and we did not make a big effort to find the best ones! At the beginning of the book are full-page artwork images of Pathe's top stars at that time, including Ann Harding, William Boyd, and Constance Bennett. This is a really elaborate and nice campaign book with excellent full-color printing, and several of the pages have transparent glassine sheets between them to protect them (they are part of the binding). The book itself consists of 89 separate pages that are stapled at the spine, but also have two punch holes at the spine that have a string tied through them (the book was created this way). The below is a description of the 61-page book.

It has images of top stars and deco art of many of their upcoming movies, with glassine sheets between some of the pages.

Note that even though this campaign book was sent to many theater owners, it appears that very few examples have survived. I have been a collector of campaign books and related material for many years, and I know for certain that this campaign book is extremely rare! Also note that, as was often the case with these campaign books, some of the movies advertised were either never made, had their titles changed before they were released, or were made with different casts than those announced in the campaign book (I do not have time to research the titles in this campaign book to see which had changed titles or were never made, but if anyone has more information about any of these, please e-mail us and we will post it here)!
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.

Condition: very good. There is small paper loss and tears and the spine and around the edges of the covers, but the interior pages are in excellent condition!
