An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More)

the 1920s poster ("World's champion wrestler Waino Ketonen here in person"; "An exhibition of scientific wrestling with 'The Lost Battalion', an historic picture"; "Two shows in one"; "Tells more than living breath") promoting a live sports wrestling match between Waino Ketonen Waino Ketonen (a Finnish-American wrestler from the 1910s to the 1930s) and an unnamed opponent AND The Lost Battalion, the 1919 Burton L. King silent France World War I (WWI) battle melodrama ("Re-enacted by the survivors"; "Tells more than living breath") starring Robert Alexander (Major General), George C. McMurtry (Major), Charles W. Whittlesey (Lt. Colonel), William J. Cullen (Captain), and Arthur F. McKeogh (Lieutenant). Note that the Lost Battalion is the name given to the nine companies of the U.S. Army 77th Division isolated by German forces in the Argonne Forest in October of 1918. Roughly 197 were killed in action and approximately 150 missing or taken prisoner before the 194 remaining men were rescued. Whenever possible, the actual survivors participated in the film's re-enactments. Note that we have also auctioned a window card for a match between this wrestler and another, again paired with this old war film, and both window cards may have been advertising the same exhibition.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this window card! Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded.

Condition: good.
