An Unfolded French Travel Poster (measures 23 1/2" x 39 1/4" [60 x 100 cm]) (Learn More)

Air France: Germany, the 1968 French airplane airline aviation travel poster encouraging travelers to use Air France when visiting Germany. Note that this poster features cool artwork by Georges Mathieu. It is printed with a gold background and it was intentionally printed with what looks like scuffing scattered throughout the gold areas, to give it an "aged" look.
Artist: Georges Mathieu
Important Added Info: Note that this poster is part of an advertising campaign commissioned by Pierre Sautet, Deputy Commercial Director of Air France in 1966. All of the posters were created by Georges Mathieu in "the style of lyrical abstraction". The campaign was such a success that it was first presented in 1967 at the Musee d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (Paris Museum of Modern Art), followed by numerous exhibitions worldwide. Our consignor obtained the poster from a relative of an Air France Advertising executive. Note that in 2022 a group of Air France posters were discovered that had sat unused since they were printed between 50 and 60 years ago. Not only were they in excellent condition, but because they were never displayed, they all had really bright colors, which is a giant plus (and the posters display better in person than our images indicated). The person who discovered the posters had some duplicates, and after that first auction, we have also auctioned all his duplicates. NOW, we are auctioning the final posters from this amazing find! They are 17 different Air France posters, and all are in excellent condition, and after this, our consignor has no more of these, so this is everyone's final chance to purchase one or more of these exceptional posters (which are being offered in 17 separate auctions)!

Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has light creases scattered in various areas and some partial diagonal creases in the upper right corner (see our image). It is otherwise in pretty nice condition and it displays well!
