An Original Vintage Folded French Political Campaign Poster (measures 31 1/2" x 37" [80 x 94 cm]) (Learn More) A Bas Le Rearmement Allemand (literally translates to "Down with German Rearmament"), the early 1950s (perhaps 1951) French political poster (with taglines that translate to "Down with German rearmament and the traitors who accept it, let's unite. Defend France. Defend Peace") created by the French Communist Party, and featuring art of a German soldier and victims of the Nazis. The French Communist Party (Parti Communiste Francais or PCF) is a communist party in France that was founded in 1920, and which was at peak strength after World War II (WWII). Wiederbewaffnung (rearmament) refers to the United States of America plan to help build up West Germany after World War II, and as many members of the PCF were former members of the French Resistance, they were extremely wary of German rearmament. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. There is paper loss at right. The poster is otherwise in pretty nice condition, and the paper loss affects only a blank, white area, so if after a relatively simple linenbacking the poster will look great!
