We have only auctioned one example of it in all our years of auctioning, and that one was in much lesser condition! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had a piece of tape in the center of the top border that was removed, causing surface paper loss in the blue background area. There was a similar piece of tape in the lower left border that affected part of the "W" of "WEISSMULLER", and a matching one at the right of that area, entering the blue background. There were just a few creases, tiny tears, and smudges around the edges. There was an extra partial horizontal fold 1/2" below the regular bottom one. Other than the above defects, the poster was in nice condition prior to linenbacking, and had bright colors. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
