An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Deluxe 5" x 7" [13 x 18 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Ida Lupino was an English actress and director from the 1930s to the 1970s. Her father was English comedian Stanley Lupino, and her mother took took her to an audition in 1932, and she got the part. In 1934, when she was 16, she went to Hollywood, and she had a series of minor roles. It was not until 1939's "The Light That Failed" that she got a better part, and she had some major roles in the early 1940s, including The Sea Wolf and High Sierra. In the late 1940s, discouraged with the parts she was offered, she began directing and producing movies! She passed away in 1995 at the age of 77. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Ida Lupino! There is a great story that goes with this still, and fortunately, the person who obtained it wrote it out on the bottom of the back of the still. Apparently, on May 2, 1945, the person stopped in front of Ida Lupino's home in Hollywood, and "a colored maid was washing windows upstairs and there was a bicycle in the driveway". We don't know if the person then went up to the house, or how they obtained the autograph, and likely we never will! Also note that this still measures 5" x 7" [13 x 18 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Finally, note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. Our consignor is a very longtime collector of movie paper who purchased this item years ago, and it was signed, but he doesn't know how the signature was obtained, and he (and we) believe it is likely that the autograph is authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
