A 1965 Re-Release Theatrical Linenbacked Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More)

Breakfast at Tiffany's, the classic 1961 Blake Edwards New York City romantic love triangle party girl comedy ("Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly... The most hilarious heroine who ever rumpled the pages of a best-selling novel!"; "Audrey Hepburn plays that daring, darling Holly Golightly to a new high in entertainment delight!"; "Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly sparkles her way through everything you've ever wanted to do!"; "Audrey Hepburn as that delightful darling, Holly Golightly, in Breakfast at Tiffany's"; "Every glamorous sensation of the best-seller is on the screen!"; "Audrey Hepburn plays Holly Golightly, the craziest heroine who ever crept between the pages of a best-selling novel!"; "Audrey Hepburn is funny ...sad ...extraordinary ...glamorous as Holly Golightly!"; "Based on a novel by Truman Capote"; "Screenplay by George Axelrod"; with music by Henry Mancini) starring Audrey Hepburn (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role "as that delightful darling, Holly Golightly"), George Peppard (as Paul Varjak), Patricia Neal (as 2E Failenson), Buddy Ebsen (as Doc Golightly), Martin Balsam, Mickey Rooney (in yellowface as Mr. Yunioshi), Jose Luis de Vilallonga, John McGiver, and Orangey (as Cat)

Important Added Info: Note that this movie was re-released in 1965 to capitalize on Hepburn's great success in "My Fair Lady", with the tie-in tagline "The Fairest Lady of All Audrey Hepburn in one of her most lavish, luscious, hilarious hits!". Until we saw this half-sheet, we thought that only one-sheets and lobby cards were likely printed for this quick re-release (plus we have seen a single 30x40), but until we saw this poster, we had not seen any inserts, half-sheets, or window cards, so we thought that perhaps they didn't make them. But now, we know for certain they DID make at least a half-sheet, because now we have this poster, which we have never auctioned before.

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had a faint slightly diagonal scuff line that started 2" to the right of the crossfold and goes down through the cigarette and through the tagline box, and ending at the bottom credits. There were also some faint scuff marks in the white background area above the cigarette holder. There was tiny paper loss at the crossfold and a few tiny creases on both folds. It had some tiny pinholes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but the restorer either left alone the fine scuff mark described above, or it was added at some time after the poster was backed. The poster can still be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or certainly, any talented restorer could touch up that area without re-backing the poster. In any event, the new owner of this poster will have one of the most rare Audrey Hepburn posters we know of!
