An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More)

The Rose, the 1979 Mark Rydell fictional rock 'n' roll biographical melodrama ("She gave... And gave... And gave. Until she had nothing left to give."; "A love story with music"; "Story by Bill Kerby"; "Screenplay by Bill Kerby and Bo Goldman"; "A love story with music"; note that the movie is clearly loosely based on the life of legendary female rock & roll music artist Janis Joplin, although that was not officially acknowledged!) starring Bette Midler (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; "Her first motion picture"; in the title role as Mary Rose Foster), Alan Bates, Frederic Forrest (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Harry Dean Stanton, Barry Primus, David Keith, and Sandra McCabe. Note that the original story this movie was based on was written by Marvin Worth and Michael Cimino, who worked on this AFTER making "The Deer Hunter". Bill Kerby then wrote a draft based on Cimino's story, and then Cimino and Bo Goldman together wrote a new draft, but finally, the script was rewritten by Bo Goldman alone, and they ended up giving screen credit as shown in our quote credits above, and Cimino's name was left off entirely!
