He had his first success at age 16 with "Diana", and he is perhaps best remembered for writing the English lyrics to "My Way", which was Frank Sinatra's signature song, and was recorded by hundreds of others. He appeared in a few movies beginning with "The Longest Day" in 1962. As of 2021, he is still alive at the age of 79!
