He won praise from critics for King Vidor's The Crowd, which was his first major role. Unfortunately, the pressures of Hollywood got to him and he eventually became an alcoholic who could not hold down a job. He became homeless, and when he coincidentally ran into King Vidor while begging for change, he refused Vidor's offer of an acting job. His body was discovered in the Hudson river in 1936. He was 35. Some of his movies include: The Big City, The Shakedown, and Heroes for Sale Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by photographer Apeda! Also note that this still measures 10 1/2" x 13 1/2" [27 x 34 cm], but it has not been trimmed, and it is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. Condition: very good to fine.
