An Original Vintage Theatrical 8 1/2" x 11 1/4" [22 x 29 cm] Stage Play Still (Learn More)

Louise Groody was an American stage actress and singer from the 1910s to the 1930s. She was involved in a major news story of the 1930s! Her second husband was William Frank McGee, of McGee & Fuller, a Wall Street "bucket shop", which was a sort of Ponzi scheme, and which went broke for millions, bankrupting its investors. Amazingly, McGee was arrested and convicted, and Groody divorced him. He was sentenced to a year in jail, and after he was released, he died, penniless, and newspapers reported that his last thoughts were of his ex-wife (who could not be with him at the end because she was away from New York at the time!). Some of her stage roles include: The Night Boat, Good Morning Dearie, and No, No, Nanette. She passed away in 1961 at the age of 64.
Important Added Info: Note that there is a great snipe on the back of this still which gives the information about Miss Groody's ex-husband, as noted above. Also note that this still has been trimmed and it now measures 8 1/2" x 11 1/4" [22 x 29 cm].

Condition: fair to good. The still was trimmed and it was used in a newspaper or magazine and there are crop marks around the edges and paint enhancements within the image (so it would show up better in the printed article).
