An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More)

The Green Goddess, the 1930 Alfred E. Green India/England politics hostage melodrama ("From the Play by William Archer"; about three English people, a married couple and a doctor who crash land in a mythical kingdom bordering India, and they discover that the country's Rajah has three half-brothers awaiting execution in India, and the Rajah and his people believe that a "Green Goddess" has sent those people to them, so they can be held hostage and executed if the half-brothers are executed by India!) starring George Arliss (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Rajah of Rukh), Alice Joyce, Ralph Forbes, H.B. Warner, Ivan Simpson, and Betty Boyd. Note that this movie was released in both a "talking" and a "sound" version, and that is was a remake of one of Arliss' major silent hits (the 1923 movie of the same name). Also note that the same source play served as the basis for the 1943 movie, Adventure in Iraq, although the story was updated to the then present day!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning, and we have only auctioned a few 8x10 stills for the film and no other movie paper! Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good. The poster was folded across the middle only. It has smudges, creases and some tiny bits of paper loss around the edges with very few tears. It had a diagonal piece separated from the top left corner and someone re-attached it with tape from the back. There also was some tiny paper loss and creases along the middle fold with a 1 1/2" tear in the fold in the woman's hair. There was surface paper loss below the middle fold in the blank area to the right of the woman's hair. Someone put conservation tape on the back of part of the middle fold. There were also just k few smudges, scuffs and a few small stains scattered through the poster, but not in the central image area (see our image).
