Le Salaire de La Peur (released in the U.S. in 1955 as "H.G. Clouzot's Wages of Fear"), the classic 1953 Henri-Georges Clouzot French/Italian action adventure thriller melodrama ("Great Thriller"; "You sit there waiting for the theatre to explode!"; "A new shattering entertainment experience!"; about four men who are expatriates living in South America, driving trucks of nitroglycerine over narrow high mountain roads) starring Yves Montand, Charles Vanel, Peter van Eyck, Vera Clouzot (wife of director Henri-Georges Clouzot; in her first movie!), Folco Lulli, Antonio Centa, and William Tubbs. Note that director William Friedkin re-made this movie in 1977 as "Sorcerer" (it was his first movie after "The Exorcist").

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Condition: good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfold and tiny creases and scuffs scattered down the vertical foldline, with a lesser amount of wear on the horizontal fold. There were many creases, scuffs, and small tears around the edges of the poster. There was a 6" uneven tear in the bottom left dark background area. There was some bleed through from writing on the back in the "P" of "PEUR" in the title, and some scuffs scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer linenbacked the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but I think they are not all that distracting, and they help establish that this is the really cool first release French poster from this classic movie!
