An Original Vintage Linenbacked German Political Campaign Poster (measures 18 3/4" x 28 1/4" [48 x 72 cm]) (Learn More)

Deutschnationale Volkspartei (DNVP - German National People's Party) was a national-conservative political party in Germany during the Weimar Republic (1918 to 1933). Before the rise of the Nazi Party, it was the major conservative and nationalist party in Germany. It was an alliance of nationalists, reactionary monarchists, and antisemitic elements. After 1929, the DNVP cooperated with the Nazis and supported Hitler's appointment as Chancellor in January 1933. After that, the party quickly lost influence and eventually dissolved itself in June 1933, giving way to the Nazis' single-party dictatorship. During World War II (WWII), several prominent former DNVP members were involved in the German resistance against the Nazis and took part in the assassination plot against Hitler in 1944.
Artist: W. Gross
Important Added Info: Note that this really cool poster (and surely incredibly rare) is from this German political party that cooperated with the Nazi party, and like so many others, found that this was a giant mistake!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had creases, scuffs, and tiny bits of paper loss on the folds, with many smudges and scuffs in the solid black areas. It had small paper loss in the top left blank corner and in the left of the top blank border. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
