An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 41" x 81") (Learn More) X: The Unknown, the 1956 (released in the U.S. as "X... The Unknown" in 1957) Leslie Norman English Hammer horror science fiction (sci-fi) mystery thriller ("Machine gun bullets! Dynamite! Flame throwers! Nothing can stop it!"; "Can anything escape its terror?"; "It kills... but it cannot be killed! It rises from 2000 miles beneath the earth to melt everything in its path... machine gun bullets, flame throwers... nothing can stop it!"; "Story and Screen Play by Jimmy Sangster") starring Dean Jagger, Edward Chapman, Leo McKern, Anthony Newley, and Jameson Clark. Note that the film's release was delayed by eight months because of a dispute between RKO and Warner Brothers over the distribution (in the late 1950s, RKO was selling it's movies to other studios; the posters and lobby cards were printed with an RKO copyright, but we have seen ones with a studio-issued "presented by Warner Bros." snipe glued on them!). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was originally a folded three-sheet. Someone taped both sections together, and then rolled it. It has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.| Condition: good. many light creases throughout the poster; tape on the back of some foldlines and crossfolds (to repair separation); small tears, creases, and pinholes around the edges of the poster. The above defects are basically minor, and if linenbacked, the poster would look great without having a lot of paint anywhere on it! This poster is in "lesser" condition (what many dealers would describe as "good" or "good to very good", or in the case of posters with more serious defects, which should be easily seen on our large images, "fair")! It has clear defects, which are likely to be very noticeable in our "large" or "super-sized" images that you can click on from our small image at right. In addition, we have also noted in words what these defects are in our "Description of Defects" section above, as some of these defects may not be all that visible in the images (reading what we wrote and looking at the super-sized image should tell you right away whether it is in "good to very good", "good", or "fair" condition). We know that some collectors could accept this poster's defects, and display it as is, and we also know that many collectors would only be happy with this poster if they had it restored, so please do not bid on it unless you can accept it as it is, or are willing to pay to have it properly restored. Of course, you should realize that if you do not bid on this poster because of its condition defects, it may be quite some time before you see this poster offered again!
