the 1956 double-bill release of Ernest Hemingway's The Killers, the 1946 Robert Siodmak (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award) crime film noir ("From the story by Ernest Hemingway"; "Produced by Mark Hellinger"; "It's told the untamed Hemingway way!"; "Tense! Taut! Terrific!"; the screenwriter, Anthony Veiller, came up with a "prequel" to the classic short story, and he devised a very interesting and very believable back-story that would explain the actions of the characters in Hemingway's story) starring Burt Lancaster (in his first screen role; billed as "introducing Burt Lancaster"), Ava Gardner, Edmond O'Brien, Albert Dekker, Sam Levene, Charles D. There is deterioration and paper loss around the edges and there are two areas of paper loss in the art.
