Phobus, the 1909 German poster promoting a costume ball to be held on February 11th, and featuring Julius Diez art of two very large harnessed birds transporting a litter with a passenger who is dropping roses. Julius Diez was a German artist, active in etching, drawing, painting and graphic design. If anyone knows more about this event, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
Artist: Julius Diez
Important Added Info: Note that this poster ships in a very long tube (at least 33" long, but possibly 50" long or more). Therefore the shipping for this poster will be more than that for a poster that ships in a tube 32" or shorter, and possibly much more. Please bear this added shipping expense in mind before bidding on this poster. You can tell how long of a tube this poster needs to ship in by looking at the shorter dimension of its length and width and then adding 4" to that (so a 47" x 63" poster will need to ship in a 51" long tube).

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had small areas of paper loss scattered down the center of the poster, many along the vertical fold. It had some tears and paper loss in the bottom right corner, slightly extending into the background. It had some tears and paper loss in the rest of the borders, with some paper loss in the top border, slightly extending into the image. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. A really talented restorer did an excellent job backing the poster. You can see slight signs of the defects, but the poster will display well on the new owner's wall. However, please read the above carefully and look at our super-sized image to know what defects this poster had, and to see how well they were restored.
