Varnick") starring Lon Chaney Jr. (in the title role and his first appearance as the Mummy!), Dick Foran, John Hubbard, Elyse Knox, George Zucco, Wallace Ford, and Turhan Bey ("The Man of Mystery") NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this 1942 first release insert (and we have only once auctioned the 1948 re-release insert). Not only that, but other than a window card we auctioned in 2011, we have not auctioned any other posters from the first release of the movie in 22 years! Also note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a heavy paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Note that because this poster was paperbacked onto a thicker paper backing, it CAN'T be sent rolled (someone could conceivably roll it or try to do so, but we think it would have a strong chance of lessening its condition, so we will only send it in a very large flat package, unless the buyer insists, and then they would be responsible for any damage). What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster had tiny pairs of staple holes around the edges in the borders, with one in the background area by the bottom of the credits and some staple holes in the top of the image background just below the center of the top border. There was a small stain in the top left corner of the background area and minor wear on the folds. There were two tiny areas of paper loss in the upper right blank border.
