An Original Vintage Theatrical Deluxe 10 1/4" x 13 1/4" [26 x 34 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Joan Leslie (born Joan Agnes Theresa Sadie Brodel) was an actress from the 1930s to the 1990s. She started acting in 1936 at the age of 11, and she was billed under her real name of Joan Brodel, and she sang and danced, and she did not get to use those talents in enough of her movies. She had her breakthrough in 1941 in High Sierra with Humphrey Bogart, and she was Joan Leslie from then on! Some of her other movies include: Yankee Doodle Dandy, Repeat Performance, and Sergeant York. She passed away in 2015 at the age of 90. Important Added Info: Note that this great still surely dates from around 1941, right after she signed with Warner Bros. to make High Sierra. The still shows an image of her when she was around 10 years old, and performed with her two sisters in vaudeville as "The Three Brodels" (their real names). Joan had to lie and say she was 16 because of child labor laws, and looking at this photo it is easy to see how she was able to get away with that amazing lie! Obviously, Warner Bros. used this to publicize the future star in her first important role! Also note that this still measures 10 1/4" x 13 1/4" [26 x 34 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. Condition: good. There are many smudges in the white background areas and a faint partial vertical crease to the right of the three girls. Learn More about condition grades
