Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Lobby Card Movie Poster (measures approximately 28" x 40") (Learn More) The Killing Fields, the 1984 Roland Joffe (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) English Cambodia Civil War Khmer Rouge genocide biographical newspaper journalism melodrama ("He was a reporter for the New York Times. He covered the Cambodian War with his camera and wrote about it from his heart. His coverage would win him a Pulitzer Prize for international reporting. But the friend who made it all possible couldn't be by his side. He was half the world away with his life in great danger... This is a story of war and friendship, the anguish of a country and of one man's will to live."; "A powerful story of friendship, honour and a flight to freedom on the battlefields of Cambodia"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Sam Waterston (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Sydney Schanberg), Haing S. Ngor (winner of the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; billed as "Dr. Haing S. Ngor"; as Dith Pran), Craig T. Nelson, John Malkovich, Athol Fugard, and Julian Sands NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: very good. Note that this poster is one of a group of Australian lobby card posters (also called "photosheets" or "photo one-sheets"). This is a very rare type of poster solely made in Australia, and they are almost never offered for sale (over the past three years we have sold many thousands of Australian posters, and we have NEVER sold a single one of these before)! These posters were designed to be used by theater owners in one of two ways. They could be displayed as is, or cut up to create six "lobby cards", and a small banner (note that these are NOT perforated as are lobby card sheets from some other countries; you need to actually cut them to turn them into lobby cards). NOTE THAT ALL THESE POSTERS ARE COMPLETELY UNCUT! When they were cut, theater owners would put the banner on the box office glass, or on the theater door. It may be that these posters are so difficult to find because so many of them WERE cut up, and few uncut ones survive. Also note that included in the group we are selling are some rare country-of-origin posters from some classic Australian movies! minor creases and scuffs throughout the poster (more so along the foldlines); a few pairs of staple holes around the edges of the poster (some slightly enlarged from rough removal) Learn More about condition grades
