An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Campaign Book Page (measures 12" x 16" [30 x 41 cm]; 2 pages) (Learn More) A Campaign book page advertising both Die Sklavenkonigin (released in the U.S. in 1927 as "Moon of Israel"), the 1924 Michael Curtiz Austrian/English Biblical Jewish-exodus-from-Egypt silent epic ("Colossal!"; "From the famous novel by Sir H. Rider Haggard") starring Maria Corda, Adelqui Migliar, Arlette Marchal, Ferdinand Onno, Oscar Beregi Sr., Henry Mar, and "with a cast of 50,000". Note that this was one of the 64 movies Michael Curtiz directed in Hungary and other European countries before arriving in the U.S. in 1926. The following year, FBO Pictures bought the rights to this 1924 Michael Curtiz movie, and released it in the U.S., billing him under his American name of Michael Curtiz. Note that the reason the movie had not been released in 1924 was because Cecil B. DeMille had just made "The Ten Commandments", and he did not want this movie with a similar plot (and some said it was superior!) to be released in the U.S., and he was able to keep it from being released for three years! Finally, note that star Maria Corda was a major Hungarian silent film actress who moved to Germany, where she was directed by Alexander Corda, who she married. At the height of her fame, he was mostly known as her director! But when sound came in, her career diminished greatly, and they were divorced in 1932, and he changed his name to Alexander Korda, and became one of the most famous British producers ever! AND Looie the 14th, the c1930s Florenz Ziegfeld musical Important Added Info: Note that this page was removed from a campaign book (studio yearbook). Each side of the page advertises one of the above movies, and we have pictured both sides. Also note that Michael Curtiz is billed as Michael Courtice Condition: very good. The page was removed from a campaign book that had punch holes at the spine (and there are some smudges in the background on both sides), but otherwise, the page is in pretty nice condition!
