Date Sold 5/31/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Mouse of Tomorrow, the 1942 Eddie Donnelly animation animated cartoon comedy family short narrated by Tom Morrison. What makes this stock poster so cool is that it has the very first incarnation of Mighty Mouse, when he was still called "Super Mouse" (it is amazing that DC did not sue Paul Terry for his obvious rip-off of Superman, especially since they were in the midst of suing Captain Marvel!). I seem to recall that the reason his name was changed from Super Mouse to Mighty Mouse WAS because DC demanded it (if anyone knows more about this, please let us know!). This poster also shows Gandy Goose, forgotten today, but a big Terry-Toon cartoon character in his day NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have only auctioned one in all our years of auctioning and that was in 2014 and that very same poster has been reconsigned to this auction! In addition, we have only once auctioned ANY other example of this Terry-Toon poster from 1942 (that one was advertising "Super Mouse Rides Again"). Condition: good. There is blue marker writing on the back that slightly bleeds through to the front at lower center (along the lower vertical fold), visible in a few areas of the artwork. There is approximately 4" of separation in the lower vertical fold which ends in a 2" diagonal tear in the lower edge of the artwork, and there are tears of 2" or less around the edges (the tear in the upper left edge was once repaired with tape from the back that has now bled through to the front.) There are some creases and tattering mostly along the edges and foldlines. There is much separation in the upper vertical fold that has been repaired with masking tape from the back, and there is over 2" of separation in the lower crossfold. The poster was folded in half an extra time resulting in a vertical foldline at left and right. Despite the defects, as can be seen in our image most of the art is "all there" and after proper restoration the poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it.
