Pizzicor d'Amore (literally translates to "In Old Limbs ... Pizzicor of Love"), the 1915 Camillo De Riso Italian silent Roman comedy starring Carlo Benetti, Olga Benetti, and Camillo De Riso. Note that Caesar Film was an Italian film production and distribution company active in an initial phase during silent cinema from 1914 to 1919. In these years it became one of the main production houses, involving in its activity many of the most important directors and actors of the time. However, movies from the U.S. soon began to threaten Caesar Film and other Italian film companies. To combat this, several companies (including Caesar Film) merged to form UCI. Unfortunately, UCI went bankrupt in 1925 and this also forced most member companies to cease production. However, Caesar Film was relaunched at the beginning of the sound cinema for a second period of activity that lasted from 1931 to 1935. Artist: Anselmo Ballester Important Added Info: Note that we only auctioned one other example of this poster, and it sold for $547! We know of Anselmo Ballester as the wonderful Italian poster artist from the 1930s to 1950s, but actually, he was born in 1897, and he did his first posters in 1914! He did the artwork for this poster at the start of his career. It very clearly has Ballester's very distinctive signature on it. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this Italian movie! Also note that this Italian one-sheet measures 27 1/4" x 39 3/4" [69 x 101 cm]. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfold and some tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the folds. It had two long tears in the top right, starting from the upper right border and going through the leaves and the emblem, but with only the tiniest paper loss on either tear. It had a 10" tear in the lower right border going through the top of the leaves, but again with the tiniest of paper loss. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
