Date Sold 11/15/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Deluxe 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Toshia Mori was a Japanese actress from the 1920s to the 1930s. Initially, she was billed as Toshia Mori, but she later changed her name to 'Shia Jung', surely because more work could be found for Chinese actors than Japanese ones! She was the only Asian actress chosen to be one of the WAMPAS Baby Stars (in 1932). She is best remembered as the Asian bad girl in 1933's "The Bitter Tea of General Yen" (publicity for the movie said that director Frank Capra had discovered her working in an Asian curio shop). Some of her other movies include: The Man Without a Face, Peeking in Peking, Roar of the Dragon, and Charlie Chan on Broadway. Mori passed away in 1995 at the age of 83. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been personally autographed (signed) by Toshia Mori! Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who was a major movie memorabilia dealer from the 1980s on. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items, and over the years he did not re-sell any of the autographed items. Now he has gathered up together all of his autographed items and consigned them to us. So all of the items from this consignor we are auctioning were purchased by this dealer from longtime dealers and collectors, and we feel it is quite likely that the autograph on this item is authentic! Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
