An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Gauntlet, the 1977 Clint Eastwood police-corruption crime action thriller ("Clint Eastwood is the man in the middle of 'The Gauntlet'"; "Written by Michael Butler and Dennis Shryack"; about a cop who must bring a witness in against much opposition) starring Clint Eastwood, Sondra Locke, Pat Hingle, William Prince, Bill McKinney, and Michael Cavanaugh NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Frank Frazetta Important Added Info: Note that there were several different printings of this poster, with slightly different arrangements of the credits, and with Sondra Locke's credit being drastically different in size on some of them. A knowledgeable collector tells us that initially Sondra Locke had smaller billing, but "When she saw it, she was irate and insisted that she get equal billing". I do not know if this is true, but it certainly makes sense. So it is likely that the small Sondra Locke credit is from the very first version of the poster and the larger credit is from the second version of the poster, but of course I cannot verify that as being a certainty. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good to very good. The poster has fine surface paper loss and scuff marks on parts of some foldlines (typical of high-gloss posters of this period). Note that this is one of a large group of one-sheets we were consigned, which were all linenbacked by the same restorer. They are all posters from the 1970s to present, and they were simply mounted onto a very thin linen backing, with approximately 2" of excess linen left of on all four sides of the poster. We are not really sure what purpose the backing served, because the posters had little wrong with them to begin with (and the restorer simply backed them without performing restoration), and the restorer left more excess linen than is normal, but some or all of it could easily be trimmed off. Note that in the case of this particular poster, the poster is slightly "lifting" from the linen in the borders (but it could be easily re-attached by a professional or a talented amateur).
