An Original Vintage Souvenir Program Book (measures 9" x 12" [23 x 30 cm]; 55 pages) (Learn More)

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) was an American labor union from 1933 to 2012. It represented over 100,000 film and television principal and background performers worldwide. The Guild was founded in an effort to eliminate what were described as exploitation of Hollywood actors who were being forced into oppressive multi-year contracts with the major movie studios. Since 1995, the guild annually awarded the Screen Actors Guild Awards, which are considered an indicator of success at the Academy Awards. In 2012, SAG merged with AFTRA to become SAG-AFTRA.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that the first Screen Actors Guild Ball fundraiser was held on January 13th, 1934 at the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. It was considered a great success! This is the program book that was created for that dance, which also featured a dinner, and the menu is printed within the program. The program has full-page artwork images of top celebrities of that time. They are all caricatures and a number of them are signed by Luke, and some are signed by other artists, and some are unsigned Note that we have pictured the front cover and an interior 2-page spread from this program. You can use these images to determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized image, but realize that there are some other pages you are not seeing.

Condition: good to very good. The cover had a die-cut area and there was paper loss in the lower right of the cover at the end of the die-cut, and someone put tape on the back of that area. There are also many scuffs and faint stains on both covers, and the front and back interior pages, which are blank silver. Otherwise, the program book is in pretty nice condition (see our images)!
