An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Belgian Movie Poster (measures 24" x 33 3/4" [61 x 86 cm]) (Learn More) La Brigade Sauvage (released in the U.S. in 1948 as "Savage Brigade"), the 1939 Marcel L'Herbier French World War I (WWI) romantic love triangle melodrama (about a Russian general who is married, but is supposed to be in a duel with an officer whose wife was murdered, but the duel is called off because soldiers are needed for World War I, and then 20 years later, the main characters run into each other again!) starring Vera Korene, Charles Vanel, Roger Duchesne, Lisette Lanvin, Youcca Troubetzkov (billed as "Troubetzkoy"), and Jean Galland. Note that this movie was released in France and other European countries in 1939 and 1940, but was not released in the U.S. until 1948, because of World War II. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare "pre-War" Belgian poster. Prior to World War II, Belgian posters were much larger than the ones from after the war, and they are extremely rare (because during WWII, there was a massive paper shortage in Belgium, and they took virtually every poster and map, and printed new posters on the backs of them!). Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. There is a tax stamp at lower right. There are minor creases along the foldlines and there is a small amount of tattering around the edges of the poster that has been repaired with tape from the back (mostly at upper right). There is a label and stamp on the back of the poster at upper center but they do not appear to have any effect on the front.
