An Original Vintage Campaign Book (measures 9 1/4" x 12 1/4" [23 x 31 cm]; 44 pages) (Learn More)

MGM 1935 - 1936 ("The First Company in 1935 - 1936"), the studio campaign book that contains wonderful silver ads for all of MGM's top stars of that period, and there is a Laurel and Hardy ad and a Marx Brothers ad, both with Hirschfeld art, and other ads with art by artists that are not identified. We know that most of this was also published in the June 8, 1935 issue of Motion Picture Herald, because we had auctioned that issue, but that issue only had the first 36 pages of this book. However, the bottom of the last page of this book has "May 29th 1935" on it, so it is quite possible it was in a different magazine on that date (and it has 8 additional pages at the end that were not in the other publication, which consists of ads for MGM's many various short subjects). We don't know if this was ever published as a standalone publication (perhaps with hardcovers), because we have never seen even one example of it! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this campaign book, and that one was just like this one, with the date printed on the bottom of the last page, so that makes it even more likely that this could have been removed from a magazine as opposed to being printed by itself, but we can't say for certain, because it has staples that look like it was a standalone book.

Condition: good. There are many stains on the cover and some on a few of the interior pages (see our images).
