Parnell, the 1937 John M. Stahl Irish Rebellion historical political biographical romantic melodrama ("The love story that rocked the foundations of an empire!"; "Biggest thrill since 'San Francisco'!"; "Based on the Broadway Stage Success"; loosely based on the life of Charles Stewart Parnell, an important figure in Ireland's desire to separate from England) starring Clark Gable (in the title role as Charles Stewart Parnell), Myrna Loy, Edna May Oliver, Edmund Gwenn, Alan Marshall, Donald Crisp, and Billie Burke

Important Added Info: Note that this pressbook is incredibly rare. Its cover is "an actual reproduction of the window card" (as noted at the bottom right of the cover), and it certainly can be framed and enjoyed, and the back cover shows the posters in full-color, which is a giant plus!Note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!

Condition: fair to good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut (however, there was originally a herald lightly glued to the inside front cover, and that herald is NOT present). This very large pressbook (which measures 14" x 19 3/4") was folded across the middle at one time. Like most MGM pressbooks of this time, the interior pages of this pressbook were printed on a newsprint that is incredibly fragile and is very brittle and separates easily and chips easily. The covers were printed on a different kind of paper, which is of higher quality, but they have separated down the spine. Please do not bid on this very rare pressbook unless you can accept the condition of the interior pages and of the 8-page supplement (which is printed on the same newsprint).
