Date Sold 4/5/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original 1955 (from the first release of this movie in Denmark) Vintage Theatrical Folded Danish Movie Poster (measures 24 1/2" x 33 1/2" [62 x 85 cm]) (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's Dial M For Murder, the classic 1954 Alfred Hitchcock 3-D (3D; 3-Dimension) romantic love triangle crime murder mystery detective suspense thriller ("...is that you, darling?"; "Written by Frederick Knott who wrote the International Stage Success"; "If a woman answers... hang on for dear life!"; "Is this the man she was waiting for... or the man who was waiting for her?"; "Perfect 3 Dimension in the Hitchcock manner!") starring Ray Milland, Grace Kelly, Robert Cummings (Bob Cummings), John Williams, and Anthony Dawson. Note that, although this movie was filmed in 3-D, none of the original posters mention it at all (there is an explanation in the pressbook that because they know many theaters will not show it in 3-D, "the ads have been designed so that the 3D copy may be eliminated" [and obviously, this is why they did not put 3-D on the posters]). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Lettorp Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have only auctioned three in all our years of auctioning and the last time was in 2013! Note also that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. It seems extremely likely that the poster was long ago glued to a backing board of some sort (possibly foamcore). At some point over the years the glue dried out and the poster is no longer attached to anything, but it has glue residue over the entire back (but it is NOT sticky at all, and does not affect the front). There is small surface paper loss in the background by the chin of Hitchcock at upper right and small surface paper loss to the left of that with some minor fold wear. There is some discoloration likely caused by the glue from the back in lines running down the upper right of the poster (with one extending over halfway and one extending over 3/4 of the way.) In spite of the above defects the poster can be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or certainly restoration could be performed. Learn More about condition grades
