An Original Vintage Linenbacked French Stage Play Poster (measures 39 1/2" x 55 1/4" [100 x 140 cm]) (Learn More)

Serrez Vos Rangs (literally translates to "Tighten Your Rows"), the circa 1910s French stage play production (based on the novel by Arthur Bernede and Aristide Bruant, which was also the basis of a popular song). Note that this poster features art of French soldiers and nurses in a massive battle, and given that they are fighting dark-skinned natives, we would think there is an excellent chance that it is set in South Africa, but that is just a guess. It is interesting to note that the nurses pictured are armed with rifles, which certainly seems unusual for the time! If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
Artist: Louis Galice
Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster! We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning.

The poster had some separation, tiny tears, and tiny bits of paper loss scattered on the folds, with some tiny areas of paper loss scattered in other parts of the poster. It had some pinholes, small tears, and tiny paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
