Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4") (Learn More) Women First, the 1924 B. Reeves Eason silent horse racing action melodrama starring Eva Novak, William Fairbanks, Lydia Knott, Bob Rhodes, and Lloyd Whitlock. Note that William Fairbanks was a German-American born Carl Uhlman, and he started in movies at the age of 22 in 1916, and he acted under his own name. In 1921, he had an inspiration and changed his name to "William Fairbanks" (although he was no relation to Douglas Fairbanks), and he started starring in mostly action movies, like Doug did at the same time, and many of William's movies involved car racing, and he did his own stunts. He had a fair amount of success in westerns and action movies, but most of his movies were made for lesser studios, and his career ended in 1928 with the coming of sound. He passed away in 1945 at the age of 50, after having contracted pneumonia. Note that this movie was produced by "Perfection Pictures". This was created in 1917 by a merger of three legendary film companies of the earlier 1910s, Essanay, Thomas A. Edison, Inc., and George Kleine. We know that Perfection Pictures produced at least a couple dozen movies between 1917 and 1925, and we suspect that they also re-released some movies from the above three studios that were made prior to 1917. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: fine. As is typical with older glass slides, this slide has no holder, but has black tape around all the edges of the glass. The image is in about as good condition as can be expected. See below for a scan of just the slide image and a separate scan of Learn More about condition grades
