An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 13 7/8" [28 x 35 cm]) (Learn More) Morocco, the classic 1930 Josef von Sternberg (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) military French Foreign Legion doomed romance romantic love triangle adventure melodrama (Cooper is a man who ran off to join the French Foreign Legion to escape his past, and he meets French saloon singer Marlene Dietrich, and they fall madly in love, but their romance is ill-fated) starring Gary Cooper, Marlene Dietrich (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Adolphe Menjou, Ullrich Haupt, Eve Southern, and Francis McDonald. Note that both Gary Cooper and Marlene Dietrich were at the height of their fame when they made this movie, and they worked wonderfully together! Also note that in this movie, Dietrich is sometimes dressed in men's clothes and has a passionate kiss with another woman! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that any original movie paper from this early classic Dietrich movie is extremely scarce, and lobby cards from the movie (especially ones with good images of Dietrich) are almost never offered for sale (we have only auctioned two first release cards in all our years of auctioning, and the last one was 8 years ago)! We auctioned a different example of this card 11 years ago, and it auctioned for $3,000 (this is THE card that everyone wants from this movie, with a wonderful close up of Cooper and Dietrich). Note that this lobby card has been trimmed and it now measures 11" x 13 7/8" [28 x 35 cm]. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good. The top and bottom blank borders were very slightly trimmed (approximately 1/16" was trimmed from each of those borders; likely to fit a frame). There is a fine horizontal scuff line running across the upper right of the image (running through Dietrich's cheeks and upper lip). There are faint scuffs and tiny circular stains scattered throughout the card, but they are mostly only noticeable when the card is tilted to the light. There is a series of tiny creases in the middle right background. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back! This great lobby card could absolutely be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or one could choose to have the above defects corrected through restoration.
