An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) a circa 1920s stock glass slide for Tom Mix silent westerns ("Tom Mix in ... with Tony the Wonder Horse"), which has a blank space where the title was written (the theater cut out this area so that they could reuse this slide for all future Tom Mix movies, writing in the specific title of the movie they were currently showing). Tom Mix was a huge cowboy/western star from the 1910s through the early 1930s (he died of a road accident in 1940). Along with his horse named Tony, he did his own stunts and was the king of cowboys during the 1920s. Among his most recognizeable movies are Dick Turpin, Riders of the Purple Sage, the Great K & A Train Robbery, The Man from Texas, and Destry Rides Again. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: fair. The original title has been cut out and the specific title of a Tom Mix movie was written in that area. Otherwise, the slide is in pretty good condition.
