An Unfolded Kenyan Special Poster (measures 16 1/2" x 23 1/2" [42 x 60 cm]) (Learn More) The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) is a Kenyan state corporation that was established in 1989 to conserve and manage Kenya's wildlife. It has the mandate to conserve and manage wildlife in Kenya, and to enforce related laws and regulations. It also manages the biodiversity of the country, protecting and conserving the flora and fauna. Kenya's geographic diversity means that it supports an extraordinary range of wildlife and therefore is a world attraction for its rich abundance of wildlife, most of which can be found in its national parks and reserves. Kenya is the "home of the safari" with 54 national parks and game reserves scattered in various parts the country. About 8% of the Kenya's land mass is protected area for wildlife conservation. Popular Kenyan animals include the lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino. These are collectively referred to as the "Big Five". Still, the lion remains Kenya's most sought after tourist attraction on the country's many African wildlife safaris. In the past 30 years however Kenya has lost nearly 70% of its wildlife during the past thirty years. Loss of space and connectivity is threatening Kenya's wildlife heritage, its multi-billion dollar tourism industry and the livelihoods for rural communities. This is exacerbated by the increasing development pressures and impacts of climate change. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good to fine.
